Meet The Team

Social Work Canidate
Brennalynn Flaherty MSW
Brennalynn is the therapist behind Tended Mind Therapy, a pre-licensed social work clinician (SWC) based in Louisville, Colorado. She offers therapy for adults both in person and online across the state. She earned her Master of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2022, following a Bachelor of Science in Music from the University of Colorado Denver—an experience that continues to shape how she listens and connects in her work.
She has a desire to offer more intentional, relational care—outside of the limitations of insurance-driven models.
Her approach is attachment-based and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that early experiences shape present patterns. She works collaboratively with clients to slow down, build awareness, and support meaningful change—focusing less on fixing and more on understanding and integration.
Outside of therapy, Brennalynn enjoys creative projects, playing guitar, and exploring space and design. She also loves spending time with her son, often playing Minecraft or following her curiosity into new interests. These parts of her life inform her grounded, creative presence as a therapist.

Clinical Mental Health Intern
Dub Jones
My name is Dub Jones (he/him) and I am a counseling intern. My previous career focused on workplace
psychology, which can be thought of as a work counselor instead of a school counselor. I see each client
as a unique individual with unique experiences, strengths, challenges, and points of view. I pull from a
variety of techniques and tools including cognitive-behavioral therapy (which focuses on how your
thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected), dialectical behavior therapy (which focuses on
managing intense emotional reactions), motivational interviewing (which focuses on finding internal
motivation and drive to change), solution-focused brief therapy (which focuses on doing more of what’s
already working well), and mindfulness (which focuses on developing deeper self-awareness and the
ability to intentionally respond instead of automatically reacting). Clients who choose me tend to be
insightful but stuck - aware that something isn’t working, even if they can’t explain it yet. They aren’t
just looking to feel better, they want to understand themselves, be challenged in the right ways, and
make lasting change.
I will be offering telehealth individual, relationship, family and youth sessions.

Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate
Michael Benavidez
My name is Mike Benavidez and I am an LPCC, continuing my path to becoming a licensed Counselor here in Colorado. I worked for two years in a mental health clinic in South Central Colorado. I originally came from Pueblo, Colorado but moved to Alamosa to study at Adams State University. I began my studies with art and psycholgy, and later turned to counseling to make use of my skills in both of those areas. I have been dissatisfied with the disease model for some time. While there are certainly more than two kinds of people in the world, I have heard it said that some people prefer a confort mindset and others prefer a growth mindset. Mental health is more than getting through the latest disaster but striving towards the best life possible.
I have been many things in my life: soldier, home-care nurse, school van driver, janitor, a carpenter building sets for college theatre, an advisor helping high school students prepare for ACT and SAT exams, and so forth. I have been introverted for most of my life, but learned
how to express myself and reach out to people more in recent years. It's hard to articulate such a thing, being "bigger on the inside" and
having gained new skills to speak to the experience. In various ways, I struggled with my identity. I found that people who struggle with a
sense of who they are and what they want from life have felt comfortable and more relaxed around me.
I came into counseling feeling that "everything is about relationships." I believe that people have the ability to heal themselves. Sometimes they need support. Sometimes they need to need to use new tools.
Because of my experience and my artistic tendencies I have an open minded outlook. My therapeutic modalities center around a client
centered approach. I see myself as someone who sets up the conditions for clients to heal themselves. What I try to do is to see what the clients don't see themselves.
When I "landed" in the field of counseling, I had an idea of what I would put myself into. I knew that school will never end. Learning will never end.
