Statement of Clinical Supervision

I prefer to take an integrative approach to clinical supervision as the best fit the needs for the supervisee. I believe in person-centered supervision meaning the supervisee has the internal resources to develop as a counselor, in this role I take collaborative stance alongside the supervisee.  I also rely on an integrated developmental model, in order to meet the supervisee at their skill level.  I utilize a systems perspective to approach clinical supervision focusing on the tasks and functions of supervision, the client, the supervisee, supervisor and the agency values and policies.  I value cultivating self-awareness,attachment, mindfulness and grounding presence, professional development, cultural humility, self-care, refining skills and acquiring knowledge, promotion in social justice and ethics in social work and counseling.  I also believe at the heart of supervision is the relationship and around that I move in and out of roles that fit the needs of the supervisee from teacher, coach, mentor, and consultant. I have confidence in giving strength based feedback as well as utilizing MI approach to communication.
